Job Summary

We have the following opportunity available in our Chicago Staff Legal Office (located in the Loop):

Trial Attorney - Insurance Defense

This self-starter will represent clients in all phases of litigation, practicing law in compliance with established ethical standards. Responsibilities include providing legal analysis and advice, preparing and filing legal pleadings and documents, performing legal research, preparing for and conducting pre-trial discovery and participating in judicial hearings, arbitrations, trials and post-trial activities.

Performs at an experienced level in general negligence areas, with experience in construction personal injury and products liability preferred. Will be primarily responsible for a varied caseload and will assist senior attorneys on more complex/higher exposure cases. Will provide guidance and assistance to other employees as requested.

Job Qualifications

JD or LLB

Member in good standing of Illinois bar

5 or more years insurance defense litigation experience in current and/or recent role

First chair insurance defense trial experience needed

Client relation skills required

Commitment to high quality legal work

Demonstrated case analysis skills and a track record of proven negotiation skills a must

PC literate with keyboard skills, experience with word processing and email programs and significant knowledge/experience with Lexis or Westlaw

Must be well organized with good analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Ability to evaluate exposure and prepare litigation analyses and budgets
