The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Illinois Chapter is looking for a temporary employee to be responsible for implementing activities associated with our Man & Woman of the Year Campaign (MWOY).
The Man & Woman of the Year Campaign is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's priority campaign within the Special Events Department. It is a fundraising competition among individuals in the community who, through their participation, vie for the honor of being the Man or Woman of the Year. The candidates who raise the most funds during the 10-week campaign will be awarded the title of Man & Woman of the Year. Candidates run in honor of the Boy & Girl of the Year, who are local blood cancer survivors. Funds raised support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
The MWOY Temporary Assistant will work under the supervision, direction and training of the campaign staff to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities. They will also perform projects and activities to support and enhance fundraising.
Responsibilities:
? Assist with tracking incoming candidate donations
? Assist with data entry into Excel spreadsheets and fundraising databases
? Assist with the writing of sponsorship proposals and letters
? Coordinate events mailings including sending thank you letters and tax deduction information
? Act as liaison with the Boy & Girl of the Year families
? Manage special event details such as invitation lists, coordinating with local printers to create invitations, handling RSVPs and follow-up communication of attendees
? Assist Campaign Coordinator in the management of auction items
? Attend campaign related events including the Grand Finale
? Maintain working knowledge of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and its programs to address the mission of the organization
? Perform other related duties as assigned by Special Events staff
Qualifications:
? Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
? Professional demeanor
? Excellent written and verbal communication
? Working knowledge of MS Office and database management
? Strong interpersonal skills and judgment
This is a 17 week paid part-time position, with 20 hours per week between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Some after-hours and weekend work for event support may also be required. Salary is $14/hour.
The start date for the position is February 8th, 2010
