Staff Financial Analyst - (Job Number: 0008X8)

Independent Agency Sales Operations Department
Purpose of The Staff Financial Analyst - Agency Consultant: To formulate, coordinate, administer, educate, manage and support field and home office personnel in analyzing, developing and implementing Sales and Agency Operations processes, programs and projects.
  • Utilize external and internal behavior factors, agency characteristics, and performance results to develop and enhance Agency Segmentation.
  • Perform New Agency Deployment Modeling and Analysis to identify profitable growth areas and characteristics of a successful appointment.
  • Analyze and model Agent comp program (commissions and profit sharing) to align with targeted products, segments and agents and benchmark against key strategic competitors.
  • Analyze key production and profit metrics, identify variances to planned performance, analyze root causes and recommend actions to Senior Management.
  • Develop and deliver presentations (formal & informal) to sales and Agency Operations and other AOR's.
  • Other Special projects as assigned

Qualification

Experience:
  • 2 to 6 years experience in a financial analytical and modeling role
  • Previous experience in financial/analytical modeling - either developing models or working directly with developed models is required.
  • Background in the insurance industry (specifically in finance, analytics, and measurement)
  • Strong Knowledge of Allstate, Encompass and Deerbrook reporting / information systems and end user tool applications such as Business Objects.
  • Must have strong project management skills
  • Advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint Skills.

Education:

  • 4 year degree
  • Major preference: Finance, Accounting, Math/Statistics, or Economics is preferred
  • MBA is preferred

Formal Training: Advanced knowledge of client business area. Specialized understanding and use of best practice techniques and principles unique to an area in order to ensure completion of project plan. A broad working knowledge of programs, policies and procedures in management or a technical field gained through extensive experience and training. Strong organizational and project management skills.

Analytical/Technical Skills: Strong analytical and modeling skills with the ability to make recommendations and drive the implementation of various action plans.
Communication Skills: Strong communications skills required to draft reports, memos, and presentations to interact with and lead a cross functional team.
Job complexity: Develop solutions to complex issues that require use of creativity and a unique approach for resolution.
Decision-Making: Recommends actions for processes or programs. Implements strategic and business direction along with appropriate processes to develop and/or deliver products and services.
Contacts: Contacts are varied both within and outside the organization. Explain and discuss difficult information to influence, gain acceptance and approval of ideas, proposals, and solutions.
Scope and Impact: Achievement of results an important influence on the attainment of unit and department objectives.
Management Guidance Received: Assigned general objectives and projects. Individual is highly capable of independent work and management guidance is normally not required.
