SAS Business Data Analyst - (Job Number: 0008SX)

The Data Team is a part of the Quantitative Research and Analytics department at the Allstate Insurance Company. The Data Team supports a portfolio of services to our customers including data request fulfillment, data research and stewardship, interpretation and analysis. Data Team members also serve in a consultant role to teams across Product Operations providing best practices, data Interpretation and training on tools/data/data sources.

Responsibilities
  • Provide data extraction and analytical support for a variety of internal customers and external recipients via flat files, SAS datasets, pivot tables, Access databases, OLAP cubes, Xcelsius and Excel dashboards and reports.
  • Provide supporting data for business decisions (e.g. rating plan analysis), reporting (e.g. retention, profitability), and regulatory/compliance data calls.
  • Serve as a liaison between business & systems for statistical coding requirements.
  • Act as a Data Steward to ensure that quality data is processed through Allstate systems

Qualification

  • Familiarity and/or previous experience in data extraction, reporting and presentation tools such as Base SAS, Excel (including pivot tables).
  • Unix and mainframe skills
  • Additional skills in EasyTrieve, OLAP cubes, Access, Xcelsius, and Tableau will be considered a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups and all organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of personal and/or commercial insurance processes and data elements will be considered a plus.
  • Strong decision making skills.
* 5-8 years of data analysis experience in an insurance, financial or business environment.*
Education Preferred: Bachelors or Masters/MBA majoring in a quantitative field such as Math, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science
