Lean Manufacturing Manager

Title: Lean Manufacturing Manager

Location: US-IL-Naperville

Nalco has an opening for a Lean Manufacturing Manager in our Supply Chain Manufacturing Group. This position may be located in one of our four locations (Naperville, IL, Bedford Park, IL, Garyville, LA, Ellwood City, PA) . The Lean Manufacturing Manager will primarily be responsible for ensuring a consistent, rapid deployment of Lean Six Sigma Methodologies within region. This individual will work with the P&L managers to select the projects and value streams that have the largest potential for value creation. Develop the Lean Six Sigma schedule and deployment plans for the unit (in conjunction with the unit manager and corporate team). Oversee the deployment of Lean Six Sigma. Nalco's work environment is fast paced at high energy level.

Other responsibilities include:

* Ensure that 1% of the employee population becomes Black Belts

* Manage the project queue and restock the pipeline as needed with high-potential projects: monitor and adjust the number of projects in process as appropriate to control lead time, track project status, track project completion rate, compile results

* Along with the Business Unit manager, identify and remove barriers to deployment

* Lead the process for proper selection of high value projects based on strategic fit, EBITDA, NWC, Revenue Growth, and hence shareholder value

* Present projects derived from a value analysis to P&L managers for approval and integration into strategic results

* Provide mentorship, management and performance review

* Intervene when teams are stuck

* Provide communication (up and down)

* Keep the Unit Manager informed of team progress

* Ensure that best practices are widely shared

* Compile and track Lean Six Sigma results for presentation to the executive team

* Work to achieve business unit engagement, not compliance

* Work with the units' Controller to validate the bottom line impact of each improvement

* Provide integration for cross-business-unit processes and across silos to make sure the Voice of the Customer is represented and avoid suboptimization related to both project scope and utilization of Black Belts

* Resolve conflicts in any aspect of deployment (Black Belt non-performance, lack of support by sponsors, etc)

The minimum qualifications the candidate will have include:

* BS degree (preferably in Engineering, Science, Mathematics); MBA preferred

* Candidate must have direct, world class experience in both Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, preferably in a discreet and batch manufacturing processes; Any certifications of these credentials should be from recognized, 3rdparty agencies

* Work experience from a recognized, world class organization(s) is a must

Must have demonstrable career path of meeting and exceeding expected results

Must be willing to work in a fast paced organization where a premium for results is required and expected

*

Must be willing to work/travel as required to meet stated objectives; Overtime will be required for this position

*

Must create a sense of team ownership and urgency within the organization

*

Must be a leader, motivator and coach

*

Communication skills, verbal and written, must be solid

*

Must have successfully engaged and motivated large organizations with innovative and aggressive high impact operational initiatives

*

A "hands on" operating style and a passion for working tirelessly to build support for key change initiatives will be a key success factor for this role

*

Candidate should have high potential and desire to attain higher level positions within Nalco, particularly those with site and/or regional P&L responsibility

The desired candidate will have professional experience to include:

* Ideal candidate will be certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt

* The candidate should have worked in a recognized, world class lean six sigma organization
