Job Description GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Industrial Designer will work among a cross-functional team of Engineers, Brand Managers, Product Managers, and manufacturing vendors on a diverse range of products.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Industrial Design is the professional service of creating and developing concepts and specifications that optimize the function, value and appearance of consumer products for the mutual benefit of the consumer, the manufacturer and Sears, specifically for the Craftsman brand within SHC. This position provides creative design leadership, and formulates strategies and policies for Industrial Design contributions to product quality and business profitability.

Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Excellent concept visualization skills including hand sketching, 2d drawings, and 3d modeling/rendering
- Proficient use of current and relevant design software. Adobe CS, Solidworks, Rhino, and Alias Sketchbook preferred.
- Proven ability to manage design-related projects and activities with minimal direction or supervision.
- Experience working with or managing external design resources.
- Ability to interpret relevant design trends and consumer insights into compelling, brand-appropriate design concepts.
- Understanding of brand identity and positioning in relation to product design
- Experience working directly with both domestic and overseas manufacturing vendors; moderate travel required.
- Additional background or experience in User Interface or Graphic Design a plus.
Education/Training
- Bachelors degree in Industrial Design or related field
Experience
- 3-5 years direct experience within field of consumer product design.
