TELECOMMUNICATIONS ANALYST, LEAD
Title: TELECOMMUNICATIONS ANALYST, LEAD
Location: IL-Scott Afb
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, evaluates, and/or coordinates the installation of local and/or remote data and voice communications equipment such as terminals, modems, video conferencing units, concentrators, minicomputers, central processing units, facsimiles, and pagers. Designs entire networks or portions of networks that include selection of hardware and software packages. Oversees voice network reconfiguration and billing reconciliation's. Company expert in the development of standards for carrier service and equipment. Provides team leadership to less experienced analysts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for promoting, improving, maintaining and supporting all telecommunications services and/or system.
Ensures that all software including network control programs satisfy the communications needs covering both the hardware and software installed.
Develops the standards for carrier service and equipment.
Ensures that appropriate telecommunications documentation exists, including operational instructions.
Provides regulatory monitoring and voice network analysis regarding short and long range planning for in-house systems.
Serves as a liaison to users, departments and vendors by providing the expertise on all aspects of telecommunications services and systems used throughout the organization.
Leads service / system upgrades while being a team player involving telecommunications and networking projects.
Performs analysis in determining business process improvements utilizing the telecommunication systems.
Ensures that hands-on assistance involving troubleshooting and diagnostic support for all related systems, equipment failures or service issues is provided by telecommunication analysts.
Participates in developing the architecture of the organization's external communication components.
Researches and evaluates available and emerging voice, data and video communication technologies to recommend future implementations.
Performs software administration and support the telecommunications systems, including planning for upgrades, resolving complex issues, routine maintenance, monitoring hardware and system performance, and managing client software.
Takes the lead role on system upgrades and implementations, using sound project management skills to achieve objectives.
Works closely with network administrators on communication and connectivity projects and maintenance.
Uses knowledge of current systems to promote beneficial capabilities and leverage use of the systems features.
Installs and tests communication equipment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires bachelor's degree and seven to nine years of related experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to the labor category five (5) years specialized experience.
OR
Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to the labor category ten (10) years experience of which at least eight (8) years must be specialized.
OR
AA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to the labor category twelve (12) years experience of which at least eleven (11) years must be specialized.
OR
Relevant military training or one and one-half (1?) years of relevant military experience an additional twelve (12) years experience of which at least eleven (11) years must be specialized.
OR
Training certificate(s) from an accredited training program twelve (12) years experience of which at least eleven (11) years must be specialized. Approved training programs include, but are not limited to, Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, DEC, Marconi, Nortel, and SUN Microsystems certificate programs.
OR
Fifteen (15) years experience of which at least fourteen (14) years must be specialized.
Desired Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communications.
Familiarity with DISA's Defense Information System Network (DISN).
