SCOPE AND
RESPONSIBILITY: The AVP Commercial Lines Product Management and Underwriting will be responsible for all product management and underwriting for Allstate Commercial's $700 million book of business. He/she will design, deliver and maintain core commercial products, create profitable growth through pricing, underwriting and distribution support strategies and tactical practices. The position is based in Chicago, Illinois, specifically South Barrington, Illinois.
CHALLENGES IN
THE FIRST 12 MONTHS: The most significant challenges for the AVP Commercial Lines Product Management and Underwriting in the first 12 months are anticipated to include:
Learning the organization, culture and processes; gaining the respect of the business' leadership team;
Establishing credibility with and earning the trust of the Business Unit Management Team, to whom this executive will have a high level of visibility;
Improving financial results for the Business unit;
Effectively developing and mentoring the team to build broad and deep bench strength in the financial function;

Qualification

BACKGROUND
REQUIRED: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 12 years of demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility in product management and development at a leading insurance or financial services firm. He/She must have a wealth of experience in small commercial lines, primarily the ability to create and deploy compelling commercial products. In addition, relevant functional experience regarding underwriting, distribution, marketing, service, and claims is a plus. P&C Personal lines experience a plus.
EDUCATION
REQUIRED: This position requires a bachelor's degree is required. An advanced degree in business or a related field is strongly preferred.
