Kinesiologist

Position Summary:

Clinical gait analysis evaluations including data collection, interpretation of patient data and report generation. Support all aspects of clinical research projects related to the analysis of normal and pathological gait patterns. Technical support for the implementation of equipment in the Motion Analysis Laboratory.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepares and evaluates patients according to established protocols, physician prescriptions, and clinic notes.
  • Collects electromyographic, kinetic, kinematic, and foot pressure data. Performs initial interpretation of patient data.
  • Confers with physical therapist regarding the physical examination and observational gait analysis.
  • Reviews patient data with physician and gait analysis team to determine treatment recommendations. Prepares final report incorporating information from all sources.
  • Dictates, edits, and ensures proper distribution of clinical reports.
  • Implements and assists with research projects. Compiles research data and reports results in the form of conference abstracts, podium and poster presentations, and scientific journal submissions.
  • Troubleshoots computer and equipment problems and patient data for errors in collection and processing prior to review of data. Arranges for repairs when necessary. Confers with Motion Analysis Center biomedical engineers regarding equipment or data problems when necessary.

FTE status: FT-80

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Kinesiology, Biomechanics or Biomechanical Engineering required.
  • Previous education or experience must include: treatment approaches for children with neuromuscular disabilities
  • Experience with Vicon motion capture hardware and software; sports biomechanics.
