DESCRIPTION
The Risk and Business Intelligence Specialist works closely with business stakeholders and subject matter experts from the Risk Management, Pricing and Operations functions to define requirements, to create project plans and support the analysis, implementation, documentation, testing and training required to deliver against business objectives and schedules. The ideal candidate will need excellent problem-solving skills and also the ability to see the larger picture and ability to lead the way the from business need to successful results. in this position, the Risk and Business Intelligence Specialist primarily supports the Risk Management function in defining and delivering business requirements in partnership with Technology. In addition, responsibilities also include the development and day-to-day support of an enterprise-wide business intelligence function. The successful candidate will manage the development of a central capability for servicing the combined reporting needs of Risk Management, Pricing, Operations, Finance, Legal and Regulator Relations functions. The Business Analyst will also support the Head of Product Management in the day-to-day operation of the reporting function, delivering scheduled and ad-hoc reporting packages to senior management, Regulators, and other stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Elicits business requirements from various personalities across the organization using interviews, workshops, and analysis of documentation, business process descriptions and workflows;
* Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguishes user requests from the underlying true needs;
* Translates business requirements into application and operational requirements
* Drives and challenges business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans;
* Collaborates with developers and subject matter experts to validate the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs;
* Works with cross functional teams to create, track and manage project plans and collaborates with teams to deliver against business deadlines and schedules;
* Reports project progress against plan;
* Identifies, tracks and reports on project issues and risks;
* Assists in the resolution of issues and mitigation of key risks.
* Works with testing team to develop test strategies, plans and detailed test cases;
* Ensures testing issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner;
* Works with client personnel to identify required changes;
* Communicates needed changes to development team.
* Creates reports and presentations to be utilized by internal / external audiences (e.g., senior management, regulators, customers, etc.);
* Create / revise various business analysis tools including process maps, requirements, business rules, use cases and acceptance tests;
* Creates / revises policies and procedures documentation.
* Leads project planning, requirements definition and execution of the phased development of an enterprise-wide reporting capability;
* Works with Risk, Operations and Pricing functions to prepare regular and ad-hoc management reporting packages with analysis of key performance metrics;
* Perform financial analysis on potential new products and initiatives;
* Facilitates effective team interactions and generates enthusiasm among team members
* Communicates effectively with Business and Technology stakeholders and manages expectations
* Assist with other special projects as needed. Other duties might be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelors degree in a Science, Math, Engineering or Financial discipline;
* 3 -5 years of business analysis and/or project management experience is preferred;
* Capital Markets experience, particularly in OTC derivatives is a plus;
* Strong problem solving, analytic and decision making skills;
* Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts;
* Excellent Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access/SQL skills;
* Experience with OLAP tools and Microsoft Project a plus;
* Self-motivated team player with the ability to participate in multiple, concurrent projects;
* Ability to operate effectively, and with a sense of possibility, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
