Intern - Internal Audit - (Job Number: 0008QR)

The Internal Audit Department within Allstate seeks individuals for Internal Audit internships for the summer of 2010. Interns will have an exciting opportunity to work with our external auditors and the various Internal Audit teams (Property/Casualty, Life, Investments, IT, Accounting, and/or Finance). During this internship, individuals will build a strong understanding of the various areas of the organization as they help with financial, operational, compliance, and/or IT audits. The internship also offers exposure to management at all levels.

Specifically, individuals will be responsible for:

  1. Completing individual audits including planning, process analysis, control testing, and documentation of work performed.
  2. Communicating with management on an ongoing basis through written reports and verbal presentations.
  3. Consulting with Allstate's internal and external business partners on internal control matters, new initiatives, and other projects.
  4. Supporting Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Taking an active role in developing skills which will further improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.

Qualification

Summer 2010 internship
Education: Junior/senior/master-level college student currently enrolled in a university/college program
Required skills include:
1. Ability to work independently as well as in a strong team environment.
2. Beginner project management skills.
3. Basic understanding of audit theory and application.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
5. Understanding of fundamental IT concepts.
6. Proficiency in business-related computing applications (e.g., Microsoft Office applications).
7. Strong relationship building skills.
Experience:
1. Background in any of the following areas: Accounting, Banking, Financial Services, Finance, Insurance, or Internal Audit may be beneficial.
