Advanced Practice Nurse
Position Summary:
Works within a multidisciplinary team to perform clinical care, provide education, conduct research, provide and support leadership activities. The APN works to promote the advancement of the nursing profession at CMH and in the community-at-large. The role is unique to the APN's specialty area and in accordance with individual credentialing
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs expert clinical care, education, consultation, research, leadership and mentorship.
- Manages acute and chronic health problems through comprehensive history and physical examination, ordering, interpreting and performing laboratory and radiology tests.
- Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, and performing other therapeutic or corrective measures.
- Promotes the advancement of the nursing profession at CMH and the community-at-large.
- Collaborates with physician team to deliver evidenced-based care and establish best practices in clinical care.
- Develops or individualizes teaching plans/protocols to meet patient and family learning needs. Identifies patient preferences and needs including motivation to learn. Evaluates and documents changes to the plan whether that be in the Electronic Medical Record or in the paper chart.
FTE status: FT-80
Requirements
- Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Nurse Anesthetist.
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience required, preferably in pediatrics.
- Licensure in the State of Illinois as an APN is required.
- As delineated in clinical privileges through credentialing with a collaborative agreement and protocols.
- Basic Life Support certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required.
