Posting Job Description SUMMARY OF POSITION

The WB Games development studio in Chicago seeks a Character Artist who will be responsible for creating character assets of the highest quality. This person will work closely with the Lead Character Artist along with the Art Director to ensure aesthetics quality is kept at the highest-bar bar across the arenas. This person will be well versed in the game engine and art tools.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



* Using industry standard 3D packages as well as proprietary team tools, creates art assets for their assigned development project. These assets could include any skeletal models, along with weapons and props.

* Participates in departmental meetings to share personal ideas and define the look and feel of characters.

JOB REQUIREMENTS



* At least a two year 2D/3D art degree, architecture degree, or equivalent. BFA is preferred.

* Worked on at least one title that shipped.

* 3-6 years of art and design experience on a shipped game title required.

* Must possess good artistic skills and a working knowledge of 2D/3D art production.

* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

* Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.

* Strong interest in computer or video games.

* Must be proficient in Maya.

* Experience with optimized game resolution modeling (5,000-20,000 triangles).

* Experience with high polygon (20,000+ triangles) sculpting in ZBrush or Mudbox is a plus.

* Strong 2D digital painting and/or drawing skills.

* Experience working with optimized game resolution textures (1024x1024 or smaller).

* Strong UV layout skills.

* Experience with Unreal 3 Engine is a plus.

* Self-motivated.
