Heavy Industrial HVAC Design Engineer
Position Type: Full Time - Regular

Description: * Challenging assignments that include designing of HVAC systems, investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of HVAC engineering issues.
* Meeting with others to develop integrated HVAC systems including the following layouts, both safety and non-safety related systems:
- Fire protection.
- Plumbing.
- Plant Ventilation Systems.
- Control room HVAC.
- Laboratory HVAC.
* Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed design phases of all aspects of facility engineering work.
* Perform calculations and develop detailed designs for the planned work.
* Prepare technical specifications for HVAC equipment.
* Prepare engineering studies.
* Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations drawing preparation, etc.
* Coordinate and provide guidance to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to assure a complete and timely design.
* Perform reviews of existing facilities to propose upgrades, replacements, etc., and present findings and recommendations to clients and peers.
* Develop career via peer-learning through sharing of knowledge with other experienced engineers by way of S&L's systems of process and associated "Communities of Practice."
* Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
Qualifications: * BSME required; MSME preferred.
* Seven or more years experience in the design of HVAC systems for heavy industrial, fossil fuel, or nuclear power plants, with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new plants, modifications, or replacements.
* Technically knowledgeable of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to execute systems design.
* Able to create design schematics, such as flow diagrams and P&IDs, using computer design software.
* Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a lead engineering role.
* Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.
* Proficient with office and engineering software including AutoCAD and load calculation programs such as HAP and TRACE.
* Experience in preparing technical specifications for HVAC equipment
* Proven experience in employing strong analytical and problem solving skills in system design while having considered of a cost effective approach.
* Demonstrated understanding of Standard Review Plans (SRPs), Regulatory Guides (R.G.), and industry codes and standards.
* Familiarity with industrial process controls and building management systems.
* Construction and start-up experience a plus.
* Commissioning experience a plus.
* PE license preferred.
