Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for all Human Resource functions for a $300 million dollar wholesale business that supports the education marketplace. This business is located in River Grove, Illinois and supports over 300 employees of which 100 are represented by a collective bargaining agreement. Will be responsible for managing a generalist and coordinator.
Specific Responsibilities:
* Develops and maintains positive relationships with management and staff, regularly communicating Human Resources strategies, best practices and goals.
* Responsible for supporting the formulation and execution of HR-related strategies and enhancing organizational effectiveness through strong partnerships with management and executive leadership.
* Will partner with supporting the business units throughout the enterprise.
* Manages the recruitment process for all staffing needs which includes short and long term talent management planning.
* Recommends new initiatives, policies and procedures to positively impact the organization and enhance the efficiency of the department while continually improving the level of service it provides.
* Responsible for management and leadership development strategies to build organizational effectiveness for the River Grove HR Department.
* Participates in collective bargaining agreement administration, including interaction with union leadership on a regular basis.
* Conducts investigations and disposition (including fact statement preparation) of union grievances with appropriate union representatives and advises management on interpretation of collective bargaining agreement provisions.
* Identifies and resolves employee issues/concerns; counsels/coaches employees and management; interprets/applies policies and procedures; provides guidance and training to management regarding the appropriate corrective actions and application of the performance management process.
* Advises and counsels management regarding questions and/or requests by unemployment agencies, EEO offices and other governmental agencies, including employee complaints. Represents the company when requested at hearings and prepares company EEO position statements.
* Serves as the corporate liaison for Enterprise initiatives for the Wholesale Business.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related degree required; Masters degree and/or SPHR preferred.
* 8 + years of HR management experience with emphasis on employee relations.
* Must have previous knowledge/expertise in collective bargaining agreement administration, grievance investigation and disposition and corrective action/discipline procedures.
* Must have excellent communication (verbal and written), organization, problem resolution, analytical, and presentation skills.
* Must have the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees/management.
* Proven business partnering/influencing skills and a strong business acumen.
* Ability to work in highly complex, fast-paced environment.
* Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel), HRIS, timekeeping and automated payroll systems.
* Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
