Job Description

POSITION TITLE: FLEET MECHANIC



DEPARTMENT: FLEET

LOCATION: PLANO, IL

REPORTS TO: FLEET MANAGER/ SUPERVISORS

TRAVEL REQUIRED? NO

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: NONE



POSITION SUMMARY: This position performs major and minor repairs/service work to Menards Fleet, consisting of forklifts, cars/trucks, trailers, etc.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Inspect fleet equipment to locate and determine the extent of necessary repair

* Repair, replace, and adjust necessary units and related parts

* Perform maintenance work to DOT standards for over the road equipment

* Perform general overhaul and repair work on gasoline, diesel, propane and battery powered engines/equipment

* General repair, welding, and fabrication of fleet units

* Perform preventative maintenance work on vehicles including lubrication, oil changes, and annual inspections

* Clean and maintain the work area and equipment

* Maintain records on all maintenance and repair work performed



Skills/Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

Ability to locate and resolve problems in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems

Knowledge of standard practices, equipment, and tools of the fleet equipment trade

Knowledge of forklift and automobile mechanical and electrical systems

Ability to lift 75+lbs

Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions

Basic welding and maintenance experience
