Accounting Senior Manager - (Job Number: 0007IR)

Scope of Job
The Senior Manager of Financial Reporting will manage the timely and accurate preparation and distribution of financial and management reporting and will have the responsibility to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidance. The primary focus will be to oversee and manage the preparation and coordination of the investment related portions of the SEC quarterly and annual reports, including financial statements, footnotes, Management's Discussions and Analysis and earnings releases and ensuring compliance with internal controls and relevant accounting guidance and regulations.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for the oversight, production, and preparation of SEC reports (10-Q, 10-K, Earnings Release, etc.) of Allstate's Investments portfolio.
- Responsible for the oversight, production, and preparation of internal and external ad-hoc reports.
- Responsible for managing the compliance to internal controls, policies, and procedures and enhancing or implementing these activities, as appropriate.
- Responsible for researching, assessing impacts, and implementing new or changing GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) accounting and reporting requirements.
- Responsible for establishing the appropriate balance between resource levels and production needs.
- Responsible for training and developing staff of exempt professionals and identifying developmental opportunities.
- Responsible for identifying opportunities for process/efficiency improvement and greater automation of key processes.

Qualification
Experience
Minimum of 8+ years of experience, including 4+ years of financial reporting (SEC) experience, preferably concentrated in the financial services or investment industry. Big 4 preferred. Insurance background a plus. Knowledge of the external marketplace, understanding of financial instruments and key terminology is essential.
Computer Proficiency: (computer skills needed to do the job)
Strong appreciation and in-depth knowledge of technology as it relates to process and reporting solutions is a plus. Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Education:
Accounting Degree required. CPA required. CFA/MBA preferred.
