Overview:
Operates a commercial motor vehicle to pickup and deliver products donated to GCFD.
Responsibilities:
The Truck Driver is responsible for operating a commercial motor vehicle to pickup and deliver products donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. This individual will operate a commercial truck to complete daily pickups and deliveries of products in an efficient, timely, and safe manner, will prepare and maintain accurate and complete records of all pickup and delivery transactions, reporting any discrepancies to the Dispatcher, will operate manual and electric pallet jacks and forklift equipment to load and off-load freight/products, will evaluate the suitability of donated products for distribution to member agencies, maintain the cleanliness of assigned motor vehicles ensuring that all pre-trip vehicle maintenance and safety checklists are completed daily, and will maintain for all assigned equipment such as radios, load bars, freezer blankets, roll-off racks, cambros, etc.
Qualifications:
Qualified individuals will have a High School diploma/GED equivalent with a minimum of one year driving experience preferably in the Chicagoland area. Individuals must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have the ability to perform physical activity involving lifting and moving between equipment and vehicles, possess a valid State of Illinois Commercial Driver's License with Class A possess a clean driving record (MVR), have the ability to drive manual and automatic transmission CDL-rated trucks up to 36,000 gross vehicle weight, the ability to operate material handling equipment, capable of obtaining a Food Handling and Sanitation certificate, and the ability to perform basic math computations using a calculator.
