Position Summary:
Evaluate, underwrite and price inland marine business submitted to the company within company parameters and guidelines.
Allocation of Time/Week:
* New business/renewal underwriting/quoting 40%
* Business cultivation (agency visitation) 30%
* Customer Service 10%
* Individual Development 20%
Core Responsibilities:
* Analyze underwriting data and relay decisions to agents and clients.
* Underwrite inland marine business within authority guidelines.
* Visit agencies to develop agency relationships and agency management skills.
* Market inland marine products.
* Active participation in training curriculum to include shadowing of Sr. Underwriters and Manager.
* Develop and execute effective territory business plans.
Experience / Knowledge
* 1-5 years related experience
* Fundamental underwriting concepts, practices, procedures
* Able to interpret financial statements
* Strong communication skills.
* Strong sales focus and marketing perspective
* BA/BS or equivalent
Key Accountabilities and Deliverables:
* New business development/production
* Renewal retention
* Achieve Loss Ratio targets
* Profitability
* Quote Turn Around Time
* Agency Mgmt.
* Agency marketing
* Support and promote enterprise initiatives.
